The Steichen Collections at CNA
The Family of Man and The Bitter Years are part of the Steichen Collections of the Centre national de l’audio-visuel (CNA).
The collection consists of Edward Steichen’s two key exhibitions from his time as an exhibition curator for the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York that were bequeathed to his native country Luxembourg in the 1960s.
Entirely restored, comprising pictures by the most renowned photographers, they bear witness to two key periods of the last century and form two of the most iconic ensembles of the humanist and documentary photography of the 20th century.
Today, the collection The Family of Man is exhibited permanently at Clervaux Castle while the collection The Bitter Years is undergoing extensive surveying by an expert in preparation of future adventures.
